SAN ANTONIO - The National Park Service closed the Padre Island National Seashore to drivers due to 'super high tides' from waves associated with Hurricane Franklin on Thursday morning.

Rangers said there is also a very high danger of rip currents and advised swimmers to reconsider going into the water.

The beaches would reopen to driving when conditions improve.
