HEBBRONVILLE, Texas — The U.S. Border Patrol found more than a dozen undocumented immigrants in a tractor trailer Tuesday.
A news release states agents in Hebbronville were conducting an inspection at a checkpoint on Farm to Market Road 1017, when a service canine gave an alert that humans and/or narcotics were concealed in the truck.
The agents then inspected the trailer and found 20 undocumented immigrants inside it. Officials said the immigrants, who were from Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras, were in good health. The driver, who is a U. S. citizen, was arrested.
“CBP not only strives to protect the American people from all dangers, but to prevent deaths and stop unscrupulous smugglers who put immigrants lives at risk. This interdiction is a clear representation of our commitment to safeguard those values,” said Laredo Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens.
