SAN ANTONIO - A multi-million dollar project is slated to begin on Monday to expand Highway 281 to six lanes on the Far North Side.

Highway 281 will expand to a six lane expressway with HOV lanes and frontage roads between Loop 1604 and Stone Oak Parkway. The project is expected to last about 3 and a half years.

A TXDoT video on YouTube shows what it'll look like.

A northbound frontage road will be the first part of the project to be constructed. The Texas Department of Transportation said minor overnight closures will be scheduled to get the first phase of construction finished.

There will be construction closures in the area until the $192 million project is complete.
