Birth control pills recalled due to mishap that could lead to pregnancy

Taytulla (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

Allergan issued a voluntary recall of birth control sample packs of Taytulla because placebo capsules and active capsules were packaged out of order.

The sample packs were supposed to contain 24 active pink pills, followed by four maroon soft gel capsules without hormones, according to a press release.

The drug maker announced it will be notifying customers by recall letter and is arranging for the return of all recalled packs with the lot #5620706 with a May 2019 expiration date. Those who have the recalled sample pack should let their physician know and arrange a return.

Anyone with questions on the recall can call Allergan at 800-678-1605 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Adverse events or quality problems experienced with the use of this product may be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program either online, by regular mail or by fax.
