Music notes: Conversation with Bebel Gilberto
Darlene Dorsey had an opportunity to sit with Bebel Gilberto, in May 2016, at the Tobin Cultural Arts Center, inside the 295-seat Alvarez Studio where she was rehearsing for her featured performance for the Studio Sessions concert series.
She moved from the stage to a comfortable position in a chair with her feet up, relaxed and willing to talk about her future projects as well as reminisce on where her musical career started.
Bebel Gilberto is the daughter of bossa nova pioneer João Gilberto and singer Miúcha. She has a sultry sound and every song seems intimately tied to the life of this petite, Brazilian-American singer and songwriter.
It was a pleasure to probe into her life and I discovered we share a love of fish tacos. So I graciously offered suggestions to help her find some of the wonderful offerings in San Antonio. For more information about Bebel, go
