Avoid adding these plants to your yard
SAN ANTONIO - Some examples of plants you should avoid at the nursery are Vitex (sometimes called Texas lilac), Chinese Pistache and Ligustrum. These are generally very readily available, but there are lots of suitable native species that provide the same type of characteristics that make those plants desirable, but with the native plants you also get the benefits of wildlife habitat or water conservation.
Some good native plants to put into your landscape include Mountain Laurel, Wax Myrtle and Cenizo. All three of these are readily available and they have traits like beautiful colorful flowers and evergreen leaves - and they all provide wildlife habitat.
The Watersaver Patioscape Coupon and Watersaver Landscape Coupon are available starting March 1. Deadline to apply for both is June 30. Why not start planning now in preparation for the launch of the coupons? Learn more
