SAN ANTONIO -- People living in one San Antonio neighborhood are thinking twice before leaving their dog's mess behind now that homeowners there are using public shame to make their neighborhood better.
In the Monte Vista neighborhood just north of Downtown, it has become a shameful thing if you don't pick up your dog's mess.
A couple in the neighborhood has found a way to catch the so called 'poopetrators.' Obviously, they have security cameras set up around their lawn, because they've posted pictures from the video of violators with their dogs.
Catherine Vexler was out walking her dog on Belknap Place when she saw the 'walk of shame' signs for the first time.
"The walk of shame," Vexler said, reading one of the signs. "We are so embarrassed. I pooped here, and our human didn't pick it up. If you see us, please remind him."
"I think it is hilarious but also a good idea," added Vexler. "And make people more accountable."
Vexler soon learned these people have a right to do this since there is a city pooper scooper law. It requires dog owners to pick up their dog's mess.
"It drives me crazy," Vexler told us. "If it's in a really hard place to get to, like the bushes, I can let that slide. But if it's out in plain sight, children play in these yards, so its important to keep it clean."
This is getting neighbors talking and watching to see who will be on the next 'Walk of Shame.'
