REWARD: 9-year-old dies after hit by vehicle

SAN ANTONIO -- A young girl died after she was hit by a truck while walking to school on the North Side Wednesday morning.

The accident happened shortly before 7:00 a.m. on Braesview near Larkspur. Police identified the girl as 9-year-old Tatyana Babineaux. She was taken to University Hospital but later died from her injuries.

North East Independent School District officials placed Larkspur Elementary on a soft lockdown while police investigated the accident.

Investigators say no one saw the accident but a truck was seen driving away with its bumper damaged and dragging on the street.

REWARD OFFERED

The San Antonio Police Department is now asking for help in identifying the suspect truck and its driver.
 
They released a stock photo of the type of truck involved in the fatal accident (see photo insert).  The truck is described as being a pewter-colored Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck with dark-tinted windows and front end damage.
