Spurs franchise sees a spike in value

San Antonio Spurs

Forbes released their report on the top-valuable franchises in the NBA and sitting atop for the third-straight year are the New York Knicks but the San Antonio Spurs are still among the bigger markets.

“Every NBA franchise is now valued at $1 billion or higher for the first time in the list's 20-year history. The average franchise is worth a record $1.65 billion — up 22% from last year.”

The article also states the increase over a year is credited to the NBA’s television deals with both ESPN and TNT.

For the Spurs, the franchise sit at No. 11 behind in-state rivals, the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets.

Many would wonder how San Antonio remains so high every single year on the list. You have to give credit to where it is due and that is with the team’s ownership. They continue to find ways to to remain competitive and a title contender with the team being known as a "small market."

Although their value is not in the top-10, the ownership is still doing what they can to make them as competitive as ever.
