Report: Spurs not among teams on LeBron James' free agency list
It seems like a match made in heaven - the San Antonio Spurs, coach Gregg Popovich and LeBron James coming together - but it may just be a dream.
This offseason, James is set to hit the free agency market but according to a report from The Ringer, James has four teams he'd look at and the Spurs are not among them.
But I’ve consistently heard from multiple league sources that LeBron currently has only four teams on his list: the Cavaliers, Lakers, Rockets, and 76ers.
James and Popovich share mutual admiration and respect for each other. Coupled with the Spurs' championship culture, Pop's approach to managing minutes of older players and how the two could pair up on the next Team USA basketball squad, it seems as if James was destined to come to the Alamo City.
Things could change and James could re-evaluate the Spurs as a possible landing spot if the report is true.
However, the Spurs would have to deal first with Kawhi Leonard and a "Super Max" deal possibly being offered first this offseason before trying to add James.
They'd also have to evaluate their financial status if they can offer James a hefty deal as well.
