Report: Chris Paul set to meet with Spurs, Nuggets, Rockets
It appears the Spurs aren't the only team that has CP3's attention.
According to a report from the LA Times, Chris Paul is to meet with the Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets once NBA free agency begins.
The Clippers have recently become “nervous” about the reports that San Antonio will make a big push to get Paul and that the point guard has interest in talking to and possibly joining the Spurs, said one executive who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
Paul also has plans to talk with the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets, one executive said.
Although the Spurs are reportedly Paul's main target in free agency, Houston And Denver would be nice spots to land the upcoming free agent but not without their issues.
A pairing of James Harden and Paul would be a nice one-two punch in the backcourt for Houston but there may not be enough basketballs for the two players. Both are ball-dominant and need their touches.
Denver has a nice core of young talents with Nikola Jokic, and Kenneth Faried, but Paul is up in age and if his intent is to win a title now, the Denver isn't the right spot for him.
This leaves the Spurs as the most viable option if Paul decides to leave the Clippers. San Antonio is fresh off another 60-plus winning season, made it to the West Finals and have one of the best players in the NBA - Kawhi Leonard. Add the fact Head Coach Gregg Popovich is on the sidelines and LaMarcus Aldridge in the paint, CP3 would flourish in the Alamo City and increase his odds at winning a title sooner than later.
