Stevens, Johnson earn key district victories
SAN ANTONIO - Only two weeks remain of the girls’ high school basketball season -- right now it's all about playoff positioning and district titles that are on the line.
Like in 28-6A where district leader O'Connor faced Stevens on Wednesday night. The Falcons got red hot from three in the first quarter. Falcons in transition and its Destiny Jenkins letting it fly to give the Falcons a three-point lead.
Later, Stevens tries to pull away, as Kyrstin Castaneda is locked and loaded from three. That was one of three triples in the first quarter for the Falcons.
In the second quarter, O'Connor fights back as Christina Adeniran makes an easy layup, but it would not be enough as Stevens knocks off the Panthers 48-42.
In 26-6A, Johnson against Roosevelt this evening over at Littleton Gym.
Johnson finds success in the post, as Raelee Allen fighs to the bucket and gets the layup to go, but Roosevelt takes advantage of some early miscues.
A bad inbounds pass and Kassandra Garcia is by herself for the easy layup.
Johnson wins 54-38.
