Alamo Heights crowned state cheer champs - again
SAN ANTONIO —
A lot of hard work payed off for a talented group of young ladies.
The Alamo Heights Cheer Team received their state championship rings in a special ceremony this week. One thing unique about the rings is it says ‘Back To Back Champs!’ This is the second year this young squad has placed first in Texas. And, yes, they are already talking about a three-peat next year!
“It's really hard, especially in the cheer world when you are up against 118 cheer teams to be so successful across the board,” explained head cheer coach Ashley Johnson.
Coach Johnson says not only are the cheerleaders athletes who work hard year round, but are ambassadors of the school who must keep their grades up while staying so busy.
