Sources: UTSA to announce Lisa Campos as new athletic director
SAN ANTONIO - UTSA will introduce a new athletic director Friday afternoon, sources told our Don Harris.
Northern Arizona's Lisa Campos will replace Lynn Hickey, who resigned Sept. 7 from the position for personal reasons.
During Hickey's 18-year tenure, UTSA added women's golf, women's soccer and brought Division I football to San Antonio. Last year the Roadrunners were invited to its first collegiate football bowl game.
Campos spent five years as Northern Arizona's vice president of collegiate athletics, winning three Big Sky Conference Presidents' Cup trophies during her tenure. Northern Arizona was just the fourth college to win multiple Presidents' Cups, an accolade given for overall excellence in competition and in the classroom.
Northern Arizona earned 32 conference championships while Campos led the athletics programs.
Sam Gonzales, UTSA Vice President for Student Affairs, was serving as interim athletic director.
