4A Girls Soccer: Boerne beats Jasper 2-1, headed to state finals
GEORGETOWN, Texas - It's an exciting time in Boerne right now.
Not only is Boerne Champion girls soccer team trying to make it back to the Class 4A state finals, but the Boerne Greyhounds are trying to be the first team in school history to make it to the finals.
In their way was Jasper, who hadn't lost a game since Jan. 21.
The Greyhounds got their first goal in the 12th minute, but Presley Carr's shot was called back because of an offsides penalty.
Boerne (21-4-1) didn't have to wait long after that, as Page Marcell's goal gave the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Marcell got her second goal when the Jasper keeper couldn't handle a pass for a 2-0 lead.
Jasper added a goal but the Boerne defense played strong for the 2-1 victory.
Boerne will play Stephenville in the Class 4A state final at 2:30 p.m. in Georgetown on Thursday.
