CPS Energy warns ratepayers to beware of scammers as holidays approach
SAN ANTONIO - CPS Energy is warning people to stay alert as the holiday season approaches and scammers begin to pop up.
Knowing how scammers operate can save you a lot of hassle and money! So the utility wants ratepayers to know that CPS Energy employees will never call you and threaten to disconnect service at your home or business.
Legitimate CPS Energy workers will also never request payment by phone and will never ask a customer to buy prepaid cards.
If you are approached by someone at your home or business, ask to see their CPS Energy employee ID card. If you feel you are in immediate danger, call 911.
