For a short time Monday morning, the former leader of the Klu Klux Klan - David Duke - was suspended from Twitter.

According to CNN, the suspension lasted a few hours before the account was reactivated.

Duke responded on the social media site, tweeting he had "no idea" why his account was suspended.

"Thanks to those who disagree with me but do believe in freedom of thought and speech!"

CNN reports Duke had more than 30 thousand followers before the account was suspended. When it returned, there were only 100 followers.

By the afternoon his numbers returned to their original count.
