Teacher slams Philadelphia school district in billboard

A Philadelphia teacher is taking matters into his own hands by standing up for better pay for educators and school resources.

His name is George Bezanis, and he raised $5,000 just to put up a billboard criticizing Philadelphia's school district.

"Welcome to Philadelphia, where we don't value our public school children," reads the sign located along one of the major highways in the city.

The ad also calls out city officials, saying it's been over five years since teachers have gotten a raise.

In response, a spokesman for Philadelphia's school district said: "The district continues to work with the local teacher's union to create a fiscally responsible teachers contract that puts its students first."

The billboard also includes pictures of the student representative council, superintendent, and even the city's mayor.
