LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRC) - A Tennessee man surprised his girlfriend by turning a fake arrest into a proposal.

According to WATE-TV, Ronnie Harness reached out to Scott Newman, his longtime friend and Sergeant of the Loudon Police Department, to propose to girlfriend Sarah Ward in an elaborate way.

Newman started a Facebook Live while on the way to the fake arrest. He pulled over the couple and told Ward that Harness’ license had been revoked. While questioning if Harness had anything illegal on him, Newman displayed the wedding ring hidden in Harness’ pocket.

“I’m very thankful they let him do it. Cause I didn’t know it could be done, but that was very awesome that they let him take out of their busy day of you know, watching out for us out here and to be a part of our engagement,” says Ward.

When Ward saw the ring, she quickly realized that there was no arrest. She couldn’t have asked for a better proposal.

“I’ll never forget it. Best moment ever – scary moment at first. But, best moment ever. I was like, you made it memorable,” says Ward.
