ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. (WJLA) —
A man was arrested Monday night on Christmas after a hit-and-run incident involving a vehicle and horse and buggy.
Maryland State Police say around 5:35 p.m. a vehicle struck a horse and buggy on Thompson Corner Road near Mechanicsville.
Police say a person in the buggy was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries. The horse was also killed.
Authorities initially placed a lookout for a dark-colored truck that they say did not stop at the scene.
When an ABC7 crew arrived at the scene hours later, police were arresting a man who they say returned to the scene. He declined to comment on what happened.
The man has not been identified.
