Deputies release name of man killed by homeowner during home invasion

Kanawha County deputies said a homeowner shot and killed a man during an apparent home invasion early Saturday morning in Jefferson.

At about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies said a 24-year-old man broke into the garage of a home on Destiny Lane. Deputies said the man broke in through a window and threatened the 82-year-old homeowner, who shot and killed the intruder.

Deputies have identified the man who was shot as Timothy Dean Coker, of Ripley.

Investigators are still working to collect evidence and collect interviews.

At this time, no names have been released.

At this time, no charges are expected to be filed against the homeowner.
