Weekend Happenings: Splash Pad Opening, Skateboard Competition, Car Show & Fatherfest
SAN ANTONIO -- This Father's Day weekend, it's all about dad. Here are four free events you can take the whole family to celebrate.
SPLASH PAD OPENING
Saturday, 11 a.m.
On Saturday, cool off at the grand opening of a new splash pad in San Antonio. The Lincoln Park Splash Pad opens at 11 a.m. on East Commerce. There will be food, music, kid-friendly activities and an appearance by H-E-Buddy.
ANNUAL SKATEBOARD COMPETITION
Saturday, 10 a.m.
Singing Wind Park
See athletes catch big air Saturday in Kerrville. A skateboard competition will take over Singing Wild Park at 10 a.m. Skaters of all ages are welcome to compete, but helmets are required. You can also watch the action for free. There will also be food, music and awards given out.
FATHER'S DAY CAR SHOW
Saturday, 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Wonderland of the Americas Mall
The annual Father's Day Car Show is returning to the Wonderland of the Americas. Check out cars of all types while chowing down on food, browsing vendor booths and winning door prizes. It's free admission for the public. For those wanting to enter their vehicle into the show, there is a $20 entry fee. It all benefits Arms of Hope Children's Home.
4TH ANNUAL FATHERFEST
Sunday, 12 p.m. - 9 p.m.
On Sunday, take dad out for the 4th annual Fatherfest. It will run from noon to 9 p.m. Enjoy bounce houses, raffles, games, a silent auction and plenty of food. There will also be barbershop haircuts and free health screenings for men, as long as you sign up in advance. The event benefits Pints for Prostates, a campaign raising awareness about prostate cancer.
