Three-car accident leaves man in critical condition, closes highway
SAN ANTONIO - A man is in critical condition Sunday evening after a truck hydroplaned on the highway and crashed into his vehicle.
Emergency crews responded to U.S. 281 North and East Sonterra Boulevard just before 6 p.m. Sunday to find at least three cars involved in an accident. Police said a pickup truck hydroplaned on the highway, crossed a median, hit a vehicle, spun around and hit another vehicle. The man was transported to University Hospital in critical condition. He is in his mid-20's.
Three vehicles and four people were involved in the accident, police said. The other people involved sustained minor injuries.
Authorities closed off both directions of the highway for several hours.
