PROGRESO, Texas - Officers arrested a former teacher from Santa Rosa, Texas on an outstanding warrant for improper relationship between educator and student. The arrest was made Wednesday at the Progreso International Bridge.

Officers say 24-year-old Aracely Sauceda was once a teacher at Caldwell High School. She had an outstanding felony warrant from the Burelson County Sheriff's Office. Burelson County is about 150 miles northeast of San Antonio.

Sauceda was apprehended as she walked across the Progreso International Bridge returning from Mexico. Initially, she was flagged as a possible match to an outstanding warrant. During a secondary inspection and with the use of a national law enforcement database, Sauceda was identified as having a warrant out for improper relationship between educator and student from Burelson County.

Sauceda was transported to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office. Court records don't list an attorney for Sauceda, who remains in custody and couldn't be reached for comment.

“CBP officers are committed to protecting our country and communities as they remain vigilant in intercepting travelers with outstanding warrants,” said Port Director Walter Weaver, Progreso/Donna Port of Entry. “I commend our officers for this noteworthy apprehension.”

Sauceda was teaching Spanish when school and county officials found evidence of her relationship with a 16-year-old boy.
