Suspect arrested in sex trafficking case of two juvenile girls
SAN ANTONIO – Police arrested Rakim Sharkey, 24, Thursday on sex trafficking charges. He’s accused of trafficking two juvenile girls.
“It started as a missing person case when a mom called and stated that her daughter wasn’t allowed to leave,” explained Officer Carlos Ortiz from the San Antonio Police Department. “The mom called a friend and asked if they could pick up the daughters. When they went to the location to pick up the daughters, the suspect was not there.”
That’s when the girls said they were “basically being pimped out – prostituted out” by the suspect.
SVU detectives were able to track down the suspect using the description provided by the girls and an alias he was using. Police tell us the girls then picked the suspect out of a photo lineup.
“I’m innocent,” said Sharkey. “I don’t even know what’s going on. They didn’t tell me what’s going on. “So I don’t know what’s going on.”
When asked about the charges against him, Sharkey said, “Man, c’mon with that. If that’s the case then I’m getting out for sure then. Cause God’s got me for sure on that. I ain’t never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.”
