A Smithson Valley High School teacher and coach is under investigation, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. The Comal Independent School District released a statement saying - Comal ISD is currently investigating Smithson Valley High School teacher Russell Hamilton for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student. Hamilton was placed on administrative leave on Nov. 28 as part of the investigatory process. Law enforcement officials with the Comal County Sheriff's Office are also conducting their own investigation.

The Texas Education Agency says Hamilton has worked for the district since the 2014 school year. He teaches math and is an assistant coach for the high school football team. The TEA adds Hamilton's license is current, and they haven't been notified about an investigation at this time. School districts have 7 days to report action to the state, once an investigation is finished.

The Comal County Sheriff's Department also confirms they are investigating, but said there have been no arrests in this case. They declined comment citing the ongoing investigation.

We reached out to Coach Hamilton for comment and have not heard back.
