San Marcos Police say man shot woman before killing himself
A SWAT situation in San Marcos came to an end on Monday morning after police say a man shot and killed himself.
SMPD says it started around 8 a.m. at a convenience store on SH 80 when witnesses saw a woman screaming and trying to leave a vehicle before a man pushed her back in and drove off.
Witnesses called police, who tracked the vehicle to a home on Smith Street.
The woman had suffered a gunshot wound to the face and ran out of the home. She was taken to St. David's South Austin Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
Police say the man barricaded himself in the home, leading to evacuations of nearby homes as SWAT formed a perimeter.
After a brief standoff, police entered the home using a SWAT robot and found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.
He has been identified as 42-year-old Troy Ranard Jackson.
