San Antonio Fire Department warns of dangers when storing extra gasoline

(MGN Online)

The San Antonio Fire Department is warning the public of the dangers of storing extra gasoline in light of the recent panic at gas pumps.

The fire department urges residents to not store gasoline inside a home. If you do store gasoline, the department says it should be stored in containers made for gasoline storage and nothing else. The containers should be tightly closed and made of metal or plastic. Paint cans, buckets, milk jugs, glass containers, and other non-reusable containers are not safe to store fuel in.

Gasoline should be stored away from a home, preferably in a shed, and away from anything that could ignite it.

The department says that if you do experience a gas fire, leave the area and call 9-1-1. Do not try to put the fire out yourself.
