1 killed in plane crash near San Antonio River on South Side

SAN ANTONIO (WOAI) - One person was killed in a small plane crash near the San Antonio River on the South Side.

Emergency crews were called to the 3200 block of South River Walk near Espada Road, east of Stinson Municipal Airport, around 3:45 p.m. At one point, the San Antonio Fire Department's Active Fire Incidents showed more than 20 units had been dispatched to the scene.

A spokesperson for the San Antonio Fire Department confirmed one body had been recovered from the crash site. Crews are now trying to determine if anyone else was on the plane.

The plane took off from San Antonio International Airport and was en route to Stinson.
