SAN ANTONIO - Funeral arrangements were set for a Bexar County Sheriff's deputy who died when a sinkhole swallowed her car on Quintana Road this week.

A public viewing and funeral service for Deputy Dora Linda Nishihara is scheduled for Friday evening at the Sendero Assembly of God Church at 5408 Daughtry Drive.

The viewing is open to the public beginning at 4 p.m. A funeral service follows at 7 p.m.

Nishihara will be laid to rest the following morning at San Jose Burial Park.

Nishihara was driving along Quintana Road when her car plunged into the sinkhole. She remained trapped in her car until crews pulled it out the next day. Her body was recovered at that time.

City leaders said Nishihara served as San Antonio Park Police officer for several years. After her retirement, she joined the Bexar County Sheriff's Office as a part-time deputy.
