Woman arrested on DWI charges after head-on collision sends three to hospital

Police are looking into whether the driver of a SUV that swerved into oncoming traffic Saturday night was intoxicated.

SAN ANTONIO - Police are looking into whether the woman driving an SUV that swerved into oncoming traffic Saturday night was intoxicated.

Authorities were called to Old O'Connor Road and O'Connor Road at about 9:15 p.m. for reports of a crash on the city's Northeast Side. Police said a maroon car was traveling northbound on O'Connor Road when a white SUV drifted into oncoming traffic and hit the vehicle head-on.

The collision sent three people in the maroon car to San Antonio Military Medical Center. Police said one person is in critical condition, while two are listed in serious condition. A 12-year-old boy in the back seat was not wearing a seatbelt. The fire department had to cut him out of the wreckage.

Police say the woman driving the white SUV showed signs of intoxication and was arrested at the scene. She will be detained while officials investigate.
