A man accused of robbing and shooting another man in the parking lot of a Northwest Side apartment complex is now behind bars.

Police say 25-year-old Gabriel Lupio Rodriguez robbed and shot Andrew Araiza on April 25th at an apartment complex located at 1830 Bandera Road.

Araiza told police he was inside a car with Rodriguez and another man, when Rodriguez pointed a handgun at him and told him to empty his pockets. Araiza said he got out of the car and tried to run away, but Rodriguez shot him in the hip and he fell to the ground. He told police when he tried to get up, Rodriguez pushed him to the ground, demanded his cell phone and then took it from his hand. He said Rodriguez fired a second shot at him but missed. Araiza said Rodriguez and the other man then took off in the car, and he was able to get help.

Araiza told investigators he had known Rodriguez since 2010 and the two had lived together for a year.

Rodriguez is now charged with Aggravated Robbery.
