Motel raises concern following recent sex trafficking case


SAN ANTONIO – A 24-year-old man is accused of sex trafficking two young girls.

Rakim Sharkey is now facing a Trafficking of a Minor offense.

He was arrested by San Antonio Police on Thursday.

According to an arrest affidavit, the alleged sex trafficking was taking place at the Econolodge Motel on I-35, north of San Antonio.

Police found both alleged victims at the motel with a woman in October.

The warrant states the girls admitted to police they were being pimped and prostituted out.

The Econolodge told News 4 San Antonio they were not aware of anything going on and that they are cooperating with SAPD.

Police said if anyone else is victim to come forward and call 911.
