Man in wheelchair hit by car while heading outside for cigarette
SAN ANTONIO - A trip outside for a cigarette turned into a trip to the hospital for a man in a wheelchair after he was hit by a car outside a rehabilitation center.
The accident happened on Gault Lane, located near Loop 410 and Broadway, shortly after 10 p.m.
Police say a man in his 50's went outside in his wheelchair and ended up in the street. That's when he says he was hit by a dark-colored car and knocked about 10 feet from his chair. The driver did not stop.
He was taken to a nearby hospital with some road rash, but he is expected to be okay.
