Man impaled in neck by pole after crashing through fence
SAN ANTONIO - A man in his mid-20's is in the hospital Sunday afternoon after a pole impaled him through his neck.
Authorities were called to General McMullen and Castroville Road at about 2:30 p.m. for reports of an accident. When officers arrived, they found a man in his mid-20's with a pole stuck through his throat. Police said he lost control of the vehicle, crashed into a fence for 50 feet until a pole pierced through his neck.
Emergency crews took part of the pole out and transported the man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. No other cars were involved and he was the only person in the vehicle, police said.
Crews were working to shut a gas line that was leaking.
