Local groups stopping Alzheimer's stigma in SA

By: Lynette VegaNews 4 San AntonioSAN ANTONIO -- Local groups are teaming up to help fight the stigma surrounding Alzheimer's disease within the Hispanic community.

Wellmed Charitable Foundation and AARP hosted a townhall meeting on the issue today on the south side. They say Alzheimer's is sometimes seen as a shameful disease in the Latin community and they want to encourage caregivers to reject the stereotype and instead seek help. During the townhall, organizers also showed a documentary on Alzheimer's and caregiving.If you are a caregiver in need or know someone who is, there is a Caregiver SOS Center located at the Elvira Cisneros Center.
