La Vernia ISD hosts prayer vigil for Sutherland Springs community
Crowds gathered at La Vernia ISD football stadium for a prayer vigil on Tuesday evening.
"It's a traumatic thing to think. I mean that church was two miles from ours, it could have been our church as easy so it's, it's a load," said Chris Kirkham of the Cowboy Fellowship of Wilson County.
It was a way to remember the victims who lost their lives in the Sutherland Springs church shooting and pray for the survivors.
"We hope that it will let the families that are left, the survivors, even if a community might not have anyone involved, that we are here for them," said Kirkham.
Friends and strangers joined hands, offering support to one another.
"Just working through the pain to overcome this, that's really what I see to come out of this, something good through so much bad," said Leslie Vandivier.
