Moldy food in fridge, mildew in the ice machine at Mexican restaurant

Two local San Antonio Mexican restaurants to report tonight; one being celebrated with News 4's Blue Plate Award, the other notable for a failing health inspection with a score of 65.

Taqueria Mi Durango in the 13000 of O'Connor Road failed after being cited for more than a dozen demerits. Among the violations: mildew in the ice machine, moldy and rotting food in the back of a refrigerator, knives stored on a dirty shelf and raw foods found over ready to eat foods.

Health inspectors also noted there were three repeat violations since their last health report.


News 4's Blue Plate restaurant of the week is Los Ajos Mexican Grill on the Far West Side, 7616 Culebra Road. Open for breakfast and lunch, their specialties include Enchiladas Verdes and Pollo Mole. They boast authentic Mexican food with quick and friendly service.
