Judge dismisses lawsuit against Bexar County in 2015 deadly shooting case
SAN ANTONIO —
A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against Bexar County, but not for the deputies involved in a 2015 deadly shooting in north Bexar County.
Gilbert Flores was killed in 2015 by deputies responding to a domestic violence call. The case made national headlines after video showed Flores with his hands up in surrender when he was shot. Investigators later said he had a knife in one hand.
Flores' family filed a civil lawsuit against Bexar County and the deputies who were acquitted of criminal wrongdoing.
Thursday's ruling means the family can still pursue the lawsuit against the deputies.
A lawyer for the deputies says they plan to appeal.
