Flu season creating uptick in calls at local cleaning company
SAN ANTONIO – The flu is affecting people who don’t even have it.
It's causing major wait times at emergency rooms across the country, including the one at Baptist Medical Center in downtown.
One emergency physician said just this week, people who need to be admitted into the hospital are waiting an average of 16 hours.
However, flu season may have one good side effect; it's creating more business for some cleaning services in the Alamo City.
Jan-Pro Cleaning Systems San Antonio said it has never seen such a busy flu season in the more than 10 years it has been in business.
“We have been getting a ton of phone calls from customers that are ours and customers that arrant our regular service hours,” said Brushaud Callis, Regional Director.
On Friday, San Antonio Christian School closed for a Flu Day until Tuesday. Jan-Pro was hired to clean each classroom.
The company said it has also been booked by medical facilities, daycares, and car dealerships.
“We have a product by the name of sniper and it's a chemical that's 99.9% disinfectant. What we are using is a fogger that fogs up your entire office the point of this system is to provide total disinfectant,” added Callis.
According to Jan-Pro, the chemical Sniper is EPA certified, safe to use, and kills all strains of the flu.
“If you're using a chemical that's not titled disinfect it's not going kill bacteria and germs,” said Callis.
It’s not too late to get a flu shot, according to local health experts.
