Deadly Accident: Multiple people cut out of vehicles after head-on collision
SAN ANTONIO – Two vehicles collided head-on early Sunday morning on the South Side. It happened just after 2am near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and East Southcross Road.
Police say a 2012 silver Nissan Versa was traveling northbound on the 2800-block of Roosevelt at a high rate speed when the driver lost control, crossed over the median and slammed head-on into a black 2009 Chevrolet HHR in the southbound lanes. The HHR had several people inside. The impact forced the Versa to roll over onto its side.
The damage was so bad, everyone in both vehicles had to be cut out of their seats.
The man driving the Versa was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. A woman and two men in the HHR were taken to SAMMC with non- life threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating if alcohol was a factor.
