Check out the new zoo-themed bus shelters!
SAN ANTONIO - You could say public transportation just got a little "wild."
VIA and the San Antonio Zoo unveiled a custom designed bus shelter Tuesday off North Saint Mary's near the Japanese Tea Gardens. The next generation shelter connects visitors to the Broadway corridor and the Will Smith Zoo School.
You likely won't be able to miss the bright colors and animal theme. It's also designed to provide comfortable, covered seating along with some improvements for people with disabilities.
Most of the companies involved in its production were locally-sourced small and minority-owned businesses.
The bus shelter is just a short walk from the Train Depot, San Antonio Zoo, Brackenridge Park, and the Japanese Tea Garden. Two other zoo-themed bus stops are on Tuleta Drive, giving San Antonians access to Alamo Stadium, Trinity University and Will Smith Zoo School.
