Boerne ISD approves salary increases for teachers, nurses and librarians
BOERNE, Texas - The Boerne Independent School District approved a motion to increase salaries and health benefits for its employees.
The Board of Trustees approved a three percent raise for teachers, nurses and librarians as well as a two percent increase for their new pay grade.
"Improved salaries along with an increase to the district's contribution toward benefits are ways we can acknowledge and say, ‘thank you’ to our employees for their work," said Chief Human Resources Officer, Dr. Elaine Howard.
The changes take effect July 1, 2018 and will be finalized for every employee by September 2018. Howard said the district is making these changes within "conservative measures" by building a compensation plan that is sustainable over several years.
The school board also voted to increase benefits for employees for the upcoming school year after seeing ever-increasing premiums. The district will add additional contributions for employees and more for those with families and spouses on the district insurance plans.
“I think it’s a wonderful time to be a part of Boerne ISD,” Howard said. “There are many positive things happening here.”
