$750k settlement reached in civil lawsuit filed in deadly deputy-involved shooting
SAN ANTONIO -- A settlement has been reached in the civil lawsuit filed by the family of Matthew Jackson.
Jackson was killed in 2013 after a roadside confrontation with former sheriff's deputy anthony thomas who was off duty at the time.
Thursday, the attorney's for Matthew Jackson's family agreed on a $750,000 settlement from Anthony Thomas's insurance policy. The county was dismissed from the lawsuit.
Last month, Thomas was acquitted of murder. Thomas shot his gun at Jackson eight times after the two confronted each other on Loop 1604. Jackson died at the scene.
The money in the settlement will go towards Jackson's son, widow, and mother.
