7 children, 2 adults injured in rollover off I-37 near Pleasanton
PLEASANTON, Texas —
Seven children and two adults were injured in a rollover accident in Atascosa County on Wednesday.
Department of Public Safety Sgt. Deon Cockrell said the accident happened just before 1 p.m. on Interstate 37 South at Mile Marker 88 near Pleasanton. Cockrell said the 2004 Honda SUV was traveling south, when it went off the left side of the roadway and the driver then apparently over-corrected. The SUV slid across both lanes and off the right side of the roadway and then rolled over several times before it came to a rest on the passengers' side.
Two of the children (ages 11 and 4) were flown by AirLife to University Hospital. No word on their condition. The two adults and five children were taken to Methodist Hospital South in Jourdanton.
Sgt. Cockrell said they do not know at this time what caused the SUV to go off the road.
