According to the Chaves County Sheriff's Office, two bodies have been discovered in the extreme eastern part of Chaves County on Tuesday morning.

Around 9:20 a.m., officials said the bodies were discovered by a local rancher near a two track ranch road and that the individuals have likely been deceased in the location for a couple of days. Deputies responded through Lea County to an area approximately 10 miles north of Caprock off of US-380.

The CCSO said a motor vehicle was also discovered in the area and it is believed that the bodies are connected to that vehicle.

No signs of foul play were found at this time and the department believes exposure is more likely the cause of death.

According to the Bovina Police Department, the two bodies discovered are believed to be the missing couple from Bovina, Texas.

Rosendo and Hortencia Lara were last seen in Bovina around 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19
