SAN ANTONIO - Two people are in custody and one is in the hospital after jumping onto an 18-wheeler at a truck stop. It happened on I-37 South near Southton Road at about 1:30am Thursday.

Deputies tell us that while stopped at a truck stop, three people climbed up into the space in between the cab and the trailer and stowed away. The driver took off on I-37; not knowing people were back there until one person started knocking on the window trying to get in. That’s when the driver called police.

One of the three fell off the truck and onto the highway. The truck driver stopped about half a mile away, and then the other two ran away. But deputies responded to the scene quickly, and were able to catch them.

The person that fell off the truck was taken to SAMMC in critical condition with multiple injuries.

Bexar County Deputies are still investigating the entire incident.
