Fundraiser set for 4-year-old cancer patient

SAN ANTONIO - A fundraiser has been set for Bexar County's littlest deputy.Princess Jalene's Royal Plate Sale will be held Sunday at 1 p.m., at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 1204 Castroville Rd., in San Antonio. The fundraiser benefits the family of 4-year-old Jalene Salinas, who is battling terminal brain cancer. Recently, Jalene was honored as the newest member of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office during a ceremony at the courthouse. She was sworn in as an honorary deputy by Judge Ron Rangel of the 379th Criminal District Court. The ceremony was complete with a police escort to the courthouse and white-glove treatment from deputies.{} Sunday's fundraiser is hosted by Heroes N More, a local organization with the mission of sharing a little joy with children in need. The sale includes $7 chicken plates, $5 chili bowls, $7 sausage plates and a bake sale. Also, on March 13 at 6:30 p.m., Heart 2 Heart 4 U is hosting the Jalene Benefit Fashion Show. That event will be held at Pueblo Hall Ball Room, 3315 Northwestern in San Antonio.In addition to fashion, the event includes food, drink, a silent auction, live music, and a special appearance from Jalene's favorite characters from the hit movie "Frozen."Tickets for the fashion show can be purchased online by clicking here.
