Kitchen Cops: Two taco places inspected with very different results
SAN ANTONIO —
Lydia's Taco House, on 536 South WW White Road, scored at 67 on its latest health inspection conducted by the Metro Health Department. Any score below 70 is considered failing. Health inspectors found several violations including:
- Carne guisada and beans cooked the previous day stored in a refrigerators that was too warm, measured at 57 and 66 degrees. Food should be stored at 41 degrees or below to be safe. The food had to be thrown out
- The owner was observed handling food with bare hands before putting on gloves
- Food containers and areas of the kitchen also needed a thorough cleaning..
Wapo Taco TX Captures Blue Plate Award
This week News 4 San Antonio's Blue Plate Award for getting a 100 score goes to Wapo Taco TX located at 4263 Northwest Loop 410 Suite 100.
Luis and Susana say they opened their first Taqueria in 1999 in Indianapolis. In June of 2016, they opened Wapo Taco in San Antonio specializing in traditional and non-traditional Mexican food that is not consider "Tex-Mex".
"We want to thank channel 4 for presenting us this award, also all our regular customers and of course to all our employees", said their son Ben.
