Debris dropping on uncovered food
San Antonio —
A popular chain pizza restaurant falls short of a passing health score, while a local pizza joint is awarded the Blue Plate.
According to the Metropolitan Health district, a restaurant that receives a score below 70 is considered failing. Papa John’s Pizza, 4525 Rigsby Avenue, has scored a 69 on their recent health inspection. Inspectors found violations such as:
- Accumulated debris in the walk in cooler dropping into uncovered foods
- Gnats observed at the prep sink
- Scrubber pads stored in a handwashing sink
- Food establishment permit expired in November 2016
This week we awarded our Blue Plate Award to Sobro Pizza Co., 1915 Broadway Street. This locally owned pizza parlor has been around for three years. Some of their unique dishes include Sobro-Prese mozzarella, Italian melts, and a ton of different pizza flavors. After your meal, you can enjoy one of their many flavors of homemade gelato.
Congratulations guys, and thanks for keeping your kitchen squeaky clean!
